September BTIG/HomeSphere Building Industry Report

In this month’s BTIG/HomeSphere survey, HomeSphere builders saw a decrease in traffic, sales prices holding steady, and material prices leveling off after rapid gains earlier in the summer.

HomeSphere has partnered with BTIG to create a monthly report to provide our builders and manufacturers with exclusive and timely insights about the market.

To compile the report, we surveyed HomeSphere’s 2,400 regional and local home builders about sales, traffic, pricing, labor costs, and other key industry metrics.

Highlights from the HomeSphere/BTIG Building Industry Report – September 2018

• 24% of builders reported lower levels of traffic, the worst reported level of traffic in the survey’s history
• 51% of builders reported higher material costs in August compared to 85% reporting higher material costs in July
• 9% of builders reported a decrease in material costs
