HomeSphere Partners with Rebuilding Together Metro Denver and Chris Grundy of DIY Network

Rebuilding Together Metro Denver’s (RTMD) long-time partner, HomeSphere, is supporting the organization’s efforts to provide safety modifications and repairs for homeowners in need with a sponsorship that will allow RTMD to host a team of ten AmeriCorps National Community Civilian Corps (NCCC) young men and women for several weeks. Built on the belief that civic responsibility is an inherent duty of all citizens and that national service programs work effectively with local communities to address pressing needs, the team will mobilize to help dozens of homeowners, installing grab bars, handrails, ramps, smoke detectors and carbon monoxide monitors.

This effort began with National Safety Month. Observed in June, the National Safety Council encourages organizations to get involved and participate in National Safety Month, an annual observance to educate and influence behaviors around the leading causes of preventable injuries and deaths.

“These basic safety upgrades help ensure that older adults can live more independently in their homes,” noted Glenn Renner, President and COO of HomeSphere, a company that connects the residential construction community through technology-driven solutions. “HomeSphere is committed to supporting our community in practical ways and RTMD offers tangible solutions that make homes safer and healthier for their residents. We are so pleased to bring attention to a national effort to keep people safe.”

Chris Grundy, host of Cool Tools on the DIY Network, joins the effort with a demonstration of basic repairs and modifications that not only ensure safety, but add value to the home. Grundy brings knowledge, skill and humor as he gives his viewers an exclusive look at tools the average person might not even know exist. The DIY Network is a national partner of Rebuilding Together.

The mission of AmeriCorps NCCC is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through direct, team-based national and community service. NCCC teams partner with nonprofits of all types to serve communities in need. RTMD has hosted AmeriCorps NCCC teams for two years, engaging its members in the delivery of crucial home repair services.
